Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, CPA or comparable in business-related field of education Experience:

Have had successful experience as a school business manager over all operations and understands the functions of all depts.

Have the ability to plan, delegate, monitor, and assess the work of subordinates in the accomplishment of functional activities. Have extensive knowledge and experience in facility and bond planning.

Advanced technical knowledge of school finance, budgeting, accounting systems, and economics.

Knowledge of governmental accounting and auditing principles established by the Governmental Accounting System Board (GASB) Ability to analyze and interpret financial data. Ability to analyze and evaluate accounting problems, develop data, and recommend improved procedures. Knowledge of computerized accounting systems. Knowledge of Skyward software and Excel software. Ability to use a personal computer and software to develop complex accounting reports, spreadsheets, and databases.

Prepare and evaluate monthly financial statements and budget reports. Develop semi-annual financial information for submission of data to TEA. Supervise the preparation of bids and bid specifications. Tabulate results and prepare written recommendations. Be knowledgeable of all Federal programs and how their funding affects the school/campuses regarding payroll codes and items for expenditures. Supervisory Responsibilities: Good people skills and communication. Able to manage district budget and personnel while running a cost effective budget system. Supervise and evaluate the performance of accounts payable employees, office manager, payroll and insurance coordinator and PEIMS coordinator. Ability to coordinate district functions, implement policy and procedures.

Keep the superintendent informed on the business affairs of the district and ensure that the accounting systems comply with the laws and regulations included the TEA Financial Accountability System Resource Guide.

Maintain a continuous auditing program for all funds and assist the district’s independent auditors in conducting the annual financial audit.
