7th Boys
The 7th grade boys track team competed in their first school meet as a team on March 1st at Brownwood and they finished 2nd overall with 112 points, trailing only San Angelo Lee’s 188 points. San Angelo Glenn had 106 points and Fredericksburg had 89. Brownwood and San Angelo Lincoln also competed.
Leading the way for the Broncos were two first place finishes in the relays.The 800 relay team of Pedro Ramirez, Neftali Mendoza, Brandon Post, and Jesse Ritchie ran a 1:50.48 to outdistance the competition. Drake Aguerro, Mendoza, Ritchie, and Jose Gallegos won the 1600 relay with a time of 4:17.01. The 400 team of Ramirez, Mendoza, Ritchie, and Nathanial Pugh took second in a time of 52.88.
Individually, Ramirez won first in the 300 Hurdles(50.35) and the high jump(4’10”) Aguerro also took first in the 400 meter dash(63.70).
“The coaches are so proud of these guys, we were ecstatic at how well they competed,” said Coach Randy Ivy. “They showed us the type of character they all have,” added Ivy.

8th Boys
The 8th grade boys track team ran well at the Bluebonnet Jr. High Relays March 1st. The team placed 5th with 48 points. The Broncos top finish was by J.T. Scurlock in the discus(113’6”). He also placed 3rd in the 200(26.35) and 6th in the high jump(5’2”). The 400 meter team of Scurlock, Zach Fleenor, Scotty Roberson, and Brandon Dabney placed 3rd with a time of 50. 14. The 800 relay team of Scurlock, Roberson, Fleenor, and Jace Simmons placed 4th(1:45.47). “The boys really competed hard today. We were several athletes short for various reasons, but when they all return we will do better,” said Coach Randy Ivy.
